Good evening Rotaractors, it is a pleasure for me to be among you this evening and fellowship with you.  My name is Glenda Johnson and I am responsible for membership in the Rotary Club of Eleuthera.  This month is dubbed membership month and I am here in support of same.

I am not here to bring a long speech, but to let you know that we (the Rotary Club of Eleuthera) are here to partner with you and to increase opportunities to
collaborate.  We are all a part of one great organization that is represented around the world and let us continue in our efforts to remain a part of
greatness.  When I first was invited to be a part of Rotary, I didn’t give it a second thought, because I love people and I love serving.  I’ve made valuable friendships and feel good about Rotary and the work we’re doing to make the world a better place.  It is just so amazing how Rotary connects leaders to make a positive change.

Rotarians are your neighbors, community leaders and some of the world’s greatest history makers. Rotarians have not only been present for major events, we’ve been a part of them.  Throughout the inception of Rotary, three key traits have remained strong:  they are:
  1.  We’re truly International
  2. We preserve in tough times
  3. Our commitment to service is ongoing

What makes us different?
Our distinct point of view and approach gives us unique
advantages.

  1.  we see differently
  2. we think differently
  3. we act responsibly
  4. we make a difference at home an around the world

How do we work as Rotarians?

Our impact starts with our members, that is people that work tirelessly with their clubs to solve some of our communities toughest challenges.  Our efforts
are supported by Rotary International, our member Association, and the rotary foundation which turns generous donations into grants that fund the work of
our members and partners around the world.  Rotary is led by our members – who are responsible leaders who help to carry forward our organization’s mission and values in their elected roles.

How did we get here?

We’ve been making history and bringing our world closer together for over 100 years.  Since forming in 1905, we’ve taken on some of the world’s toughest
challenges and helped a wide range of international and service organizations.

What causes do we support?

We have identified specific causes to target and maximize our local and Global impact.  At the same time, we understand that each community has its own
unique needs and concerns.  Through our network of resources and partners, we help clubs focus their service efforts in promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, supporting education, and growing local economies.

In closing, I admonish you, Rotoractors to continue the great work you have started.   Do not be distracted and know that the Rotary club of Eleuthera is here to partner with you in your goads for the island of Eleuthera.

Paul P. Harris once said, and I quote, “Whatever Rotary may mean to us, to the world, it will be known by the results it achieves”, end quote.
