Rotary Club of Eleuthera bid farewell to a "giant" of a man in the person of Gary Knowles

It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to Mr. Gary Knowles, a Charter Member of the Rotary Club of Eleuthera.  During his tenure on Eleuthera as Senior Island Administrator (2008-2011), he enthusiastically became a part of our club and served faithfully as our Director of Rotary Foundation.

I can vividly recall him giving us sound advice and direction whenever we needed to make a serious decision as a club.  His litigious mind and vast experience in the public service made him a valuable asset to our club.  Even after he was transferred to Nassau he visited our club often and brought a smile to the faces of the members when he just strolled in the building and made his presence felt.  We were always happy to see him and can fondly remember the way he enjoyed himself and laughed as Joey told jokes or made a wise crack at something that was said.  Gary had a knack for making everyone feel so at ease in his presence with his great sense of humor.

Gary we will miss your laugh, your sound advice...your death has taught us to seize each day and to enjoy it to the fullest!  Farewell....until we meet again!
