ZION CHILDREN HOME GIVEN EDUCATIONAL TOUR AND FUN DAY

THE ROTARY CLUB OF ELEUTHERA hosted the children of ZionChildren's Home to a field trip to South Eleuthera on Friday August 29th.
Accompanying the 7 resident children were 6 adults inclusive of the founders,
Earmily Munroe and Geletta Kemp and Home administrator, Alicia Munroe.
The group's first stop, upon arriving South, was Office General Book and
Stationers Store which was where the contingent met up with the guide for their
trip, Rotarian, Maisie Pinder. Office General is owned and managed by Rotarian,
Juanita Pinder and her husband Roderick Pinder. At the store the children were
presented with a gift certificate compliments of Office General.
Next stop for the children was the Ocean View Horse farm where owner Angela
Brown was happy to show off her horses, Kukoo bird and chickens to the excited
children. Some were brave enough to pet the animals. Angela explained how each
was cared for. After leaving the horse farm, the next stop was at the Cancer
Society Wellness Center and Eleuthera Community Farm.

Christie Cadet, office administrator gave the grand tour of the facility and farm. Each child was
presented with a Cancer Society t-shirt and a water bottle.
Upon leaving Palmetto Point, the group headed further south to SEEP, Tarpum Bay.
At SEEP, the children were greeted by Rotarians, Sandra Ingraham, Past President
Robyn Curry, Supt. Ismella Davis, Commander of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, a
Rotarian and two of her officers. Devanna McCartney explained her role and what
SEEP is all about. Supt. Davis addressed the group and her officers issued the
children backpacks which were packed with back to school goodies.
Past President Rotarian Ian Carey (Emergency Services volunteer), pointed out
the Ambulance and fire truck and gave the children a brief lecture on fire
safety. Dressed in full fireman's gear, Rotarian Ian helped each curious child
onto the big, red fire truck and set off the sirens for the excited occupants.
A hearty lunch was then served. Upon the completion of lunch, President Julian
addressed the children. President Julian asked for a wish list from the home.
Mrs. Earmily Munroe said how grateful they were to Rotarians for all they do for
the children. The group was also presented with a bunch of bananas from SEEP's
backyard farm.
After saying their good-bye's at SEEP, the group headed back towards north. At
Cupid's Cay they made one last stop - ice cream at Waterfront Cafe! The excited
children and adults each got to choose their flavor of choice for an icy, cool
serving before heading back to Zion Children's Home, Current Island.
This was a rewarding day for the Rotary Club of Eleuthera!
