As we celebrate June as Fellowships Month, I invite each of you to reflect on one of the most inspiring dimensions of Rotary: the friendships and connections that unite us across borders, cultures, and continents. Rotary Fellowships are international groups that bring together people who share common hobbies, vocations, and interests, offering a meaningful way to deepen our Rotary experience while building lasting friendships around the world.

Whether your passion lies in professional networking, wellness, culture, sports, travel, the arts, or another shared interest, there is likely a Rotary Fellowship that speaks to you. These fellowships remind us that Rotary is not only about service in our own communities, but also about belonging to a global family committed to goodwill, understanding, and peace. Through fellowship participation, we create bridges of friendship that foster international collaboration, camaraderie, and mutual respect.

Rotarians Eleuthera enjoyed an evening of Fellowship, Fun and delicious food during the Club's Social held on Friday, 28th May 2026 at LaRose Restaurant, James Cistern, Eleuthera

The Rotary Club of Eleuthera is proud to have President Elect Sybil Forbes, Past Presidents Susan Culmer and Jacqueline Gibson represent the Club at the annual President Elect.Training Seminar and District Conference happening now in Kingston, Jamaica. It was an excellent District Conference.

 PAINTING & BEACH CLEAN UP - Clean oceans, beaches and parks help to make clean and safe Environments for everyone. On Saturday March 28th, 2026, the Rotary Club of Eleuthera (RCE) joined forces with members of the Interact Club of Central Eleuthera High School, the Kiwanis Club of South Eleuthera and members of the Eleuthera Run Club to complete joint projects and an exciting, fun-filled Social Event.  The first half of the morning was dedicated to the projects to paint two dug out cabanas at the Savannah Sound Community Park, previously sponsored by RCE and the removal of refuse from the park and broken glass from the shoreline of the adjoining beach.   

After completion of the joint projects on Saturday, March 28, 2026, all participants joined in the Social event. Food was served including hamburger and hot dog sandwiches, drinks, chips, cookies and more. The fun and excitement intensified when the Clubs played beach volleyball. Rotarians and Kiwanians played against the Interactors who continuously challenged them. 

It was great that everyone had the opportunity to enjoy the natural environment and beautiful scenery including the sun, sand and sea. There was lots of fun, and laughter a great way to end an exciting and successful day.

The Rotary Club of Eleuthera (RCE) promoted Water and Sanitation during the month of March by donating water to the Organizers of the Eleuthera Primary Schools Sports Meet for students, teachers and Faculty. The event was held March 26th, 2026. The donation of water was made possible by RCE Buddy Groups

What an incredible morning! Our club hosted its first Healthy Hearts, Active Lives wellness event, organized by Rotarian Nurse Cornell Johnson, bringing together dozens of young people, as well as a few parents, teachers and community partners including Royal Bahamas Police Force Officer in Charge Neely, Dr. Fynn , Nurses Gibbs, Ellis and Johnson, Renaldo Brown accompanied by the South Eleuthera Boys Club, and Rotarians for a vibrant day of health and activity. Highlights of the Day included:

•        Youth-led devotions to start the morning

•        Health screenings: blood pressure, blood sugar, weight

•        Fresh juices & smoothies prepared with help from our young participants

•        Interactive cardiovascular health presentation

•        Track stretches & exercises with Coach Kenard Mackey

•        A fun adult ball game to close out the day

This event reminded us that caring for our hearts can be joyful, educational, and community building. We’re proud of this first step in promoting healthier lifestyles across Eleuthera.

The Rotary Club of Eleuthera (RCE) began to work on a project at the Community Park located in Savannah Sound, Eleuthera. There is a need for additional seating (bleachers), and the replacement of three sets of bleachers and two benches that are in a state of disrepair. Two sets of bleachers 20 ft. long by 6ft. high with six rows each were constructed under the leadership of RCE Community Service Chair and Contractor of A meadows Construction, Rtn. Audley Meadows

Rotarians and members of Central Eleuthera High School Interact Club worked along with Rtn. Audley as he shared with them his vocation. One set of seating was placed by the pickleball courtside, and the second set was placed by the basketball court.  It was a pleasure to have Rotarian Linda Muth from Cincinnati and a few of her friends visit the project site. This project was made possible as a result of  a District Grant from Rotary District 7020 along with donations from residents of the Savannah Sound Community and the Rotary Club of Eleuthera.

FEBRUARY IS PEACE & CONFLICT PREVENTION Month 

As Rotarians we all aspire to see a world in which Peace and Conflict Prevention thrive, and though it remains an aspirational goal, we celebrate Peace and Conflict Prevention in the month of February on the Rotary calendar.

When asked to say what comes to mind when peace is thought of, there are as many words forthcoming as there are people. For me peace means harmony and calm, yet for others peace could be the smell of a freshly brewed morning coffee or the feeling one gets when held by a caring friend. Whatever Peace may mean to you and me, it is clear that peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but it is a mindset that understands we have a shared humanity, and this understanding engenders compassion and empathy for others and causes us to act accordingly. 

 Peace therefore begins in the heart, and we are all individually and collectively responsible for engendering its presence. The law of correspondence says that our outer world is a reflection of our inner world, and when it comes to Peace nothing could be truer.

It is this inner world of peace that engenders compassion and empathy that causes us to treat our brother fairly and to do unto others as we would wish others to do to us. Peace therefore perpetuates fair play and justice, and justice in turn perpetuates peace. If all mankind were to live by the Rotary Four-Way Test, we would soon realize the aspirational goal of peace! Rotary promotes peace in everything we do, through the spirit of cooperation and collaboration with others, especially when the "others" do not look like us. 

Some of the leadership team and members of the @Interact Club of Central Eleuthera High School were represented at our gathering with DGBill Aiken on Tuesday, 18th November 2025. Our District Governor challenged each of our clubs, both youth and Rotarians, to aim for bigger and more impactful projects in our community and island.

Our very own Charter President, Shaun D. Ingraham and his wife, Provisional President PP Sandra Ingraham receivedtheir Paul Harris Fellow+4 and PHF+5 respectively. They were pinned by ourDistrict Governor, Bill Aiken.  This was such proud moment for us for this dynamic couple! 

Rotary Club of Eleuthera (RCE) participated in the Cancer Society of Eleuthera Fun, Run, BeachWalk to increase awareness of Breast Cancer and help raise funds for the cause

Past Presidents Jacqueline Gibson and Susan Culmer (Certified Discussion Leaders), traveled form the island of Eleuthera to Nassau, New Providence for The Sunshine Division - Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) training for Rotary Clubs of the Bahamas (RCOB), Oct. 4 - 5, 2025.

They also had the opportunity for a photo opportunity with DGE Lindsey Cansino (District 7020)

On Friday, September 26th, 2025 Members of the Rotary Club of Eleuthera (RCE) supported the Interact Club at the Central Eleuthera High School Clubs Fair.

It was an exciting time for members and guests on Friday, September 05, 2025, when the club hosted its first fellowship  for the Rotary year, The theme was Hawaiian ‘Luau, the cuisine, dress code and decor reflected the same.

The competitiveness of the members was also evident as the featured Hawaiian dish for each Club  buddy group - showcased and judged. The buddy groups were created to increase membership engagement/satisfaction and to assist with achieving the Club, District and Ri Goals.  This amazing Luau Fellowship is one that will be remembered for a very long time.

It is fitting and appropriate that membership and new club development are highlighted so early in the Rotary year by having the month of August dedicated to its promotion and celebration. Membership remains Rotary’s number one internal priority, and rightly so, as its members are the heartbeat and lifeblood of the organization. If Rotary is to increase its impact and expand its reach it will need to, among other things, increase its membership numerically and qualitatively. More members mean more sharing of ideas, more fellowship, more service to communities, and more opportunities to develop community leaders. Members who are actively engaged and growing in Rotary knowledge and participation are more likely to remain committed Rotarians – people of action who positively impact their communities by giving service above self.
